5 Easy Changes for a Healthier Year

Making healthy changes at the start of a new year can be overwhelming. It seems like everyone is doing it, and you’re just bombarded with information about why you should eat this and shouldn’t do that. I think 75% of people on my Instagram feed are doing Whole30, which I totally did this time last year.

This year I decided to set intentions instead of resolutions, and I’m all about making small, attainable healthy changes to my lifestyle. After reading a lot of articles and social media posts, as well as doing some of these things already, I’ve come up with 5 easy changes that will help you have a healthier year.

Changes for a healthier year

  1. Drink more water
    • This includes a glass of hot lemon water each morning
  2. Get off of electronics 20-30 minutes before bed
    • I’ll admit that this one is extra hard for me, but I’ve been trying to read instead
  3. Take daily vitamins
    • I like Care/of or HUM because you take an online survey to know exactly what you need
  4. Start your mornings off right
    • Try a meditation app like Headspace, or write some things down and journal
  5. Get 30 minutes of movement in everyday
    • It can even be walking up and down the stairs or taking your dog for a walk!

I also am part of an exciting giveaway for you guys! I’ve partnered with some of my blogger friends to raffle off a $500 Nordstrom gift card. See all the details below 🙂 Xx

  1. Have been really focused on drinking the recommended amount of water this winter and it is really helping my energy levels and skin! Staying off electronics is so hard! Gotta do it though!

  2. I love how you changed it from setting resolutions to setting intentions! Small steps in the beginning can totally lead to big milestones in the end:)

    xoxo, Hannah

  3. Good stuff Laur! I started getting a daily motivational text from the Shine app. – I really like it; it helps me keep thing in perspective. Also: what is that yummy concoction in that bowl?

  4. I like your tips and must try the lemon in hot water. I drink a lot of lemon infused water but haven’t tried the hot water. It sounds so much better. I too have some problems with electronics at night and have to work on that. Thanks for these easy changes that all help to staying healthier. 🙂

  5. I think I need to jump on the hot water/lemon in the AM train! I am a plain jane when it comes to my water and I only like it cold. But, I hear the benefits of drinking this are really good!!

I’m also trying to stay off my phone before going to bed. I usually try to put it on my desk (instead of my nightstand), so I actually have to get up if I want to use/be on it..and it does seem to be helping.
