AHHH we’re engaged!!! It feels surreal typing this out, tbh. If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw my posts here or here. It’s been a crazy few weeks just soaking it in, chatting with all of our friends, and celebrating with our favorite people. I’m feeling so thankful and blessed for everyone in my life and Tim and I cannot wait begin to start the next chapter together. Check below for some funny photos from the engagement 🙂
How He Asked
Soooo we had a trip planned to St. John with my whole family (parents and younger sister) in April. We’ve been going to STJ for several years, and it’s such a special vacation spot for us. We’d had it planned for a while since we had to wait for Covid to get better. Also, it was Tim’s first time coming to the USVIs with us! My mom had jokingly said (in front of Tim), “Wow, wouldn’t that be a great place to get engaged!”, and he kept saying that because she said that it wouldn’t happen there. In my mind, I knew that we would be getting engaged soon, since we’ve been dating for 5.5 years and had talked about the future, but I just didn’t know when.
Fast forward to 4/13, which is also my birthday, and we were getting ready to take family photos on the beach. We got to the photo spot and Tim started guiding me toward the beach pretty quickly. I was so confused and kind of annoyed because I was wearing heels. I go, “what are you doing!!” and he said, “Lauren, I’m proposing!” aka cue the huge smiles and happy tears. Once we got out on the beach, he got down on one knee and had the nicest proposal prepared. I kept interrupting and saying YES YES YES, but he wasn’t done yet, lol. After I put on the gorgeous ring, we hugged for probably 5 minutes straight and then turned around to run to my family (and the small crowd that started watching).
Then we called Tim’s parents, brothers, our grandparents/aunts/uncles and closest friends. It was truly the best night of my life and so special to be able to share it with my family. My sister also brought her camera to take photos on, and my dad filmed the whole thing! After that, we went out to dinner to celebrate and honestly the rest of the week was such a blur.
The Night we got Engaged
Now that we’re home, I’m diving head first into wedding planning and research. Gosh- there is just so much to do! But I feel like I’ve trained my whole life for this 🙂 I can’t wait to share more of the planning process and fun stuff with all of you. If you have any tips, please let me know! Thank you all for your kind words and thank you for being here on my little piece of the internet!
