How to Take your Lip Color from Summer to September

lipThank you to Ulta and MavenX for working with me to sponsor this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.Β

A little bit of lipstick can go a long way! I learned this at a young age, since I was a competitive dancer. We were all required to wear the same shade of bright red lipstick that always seemed to get on your teeth and costumes.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve kept to that idea of always having something on my lips. While it was usually just chapstick throughout high school, I became more adventurous with colors in college. I think I even wore a deep purple out one night… so #bold of me.

My daily color of choice tends to be a light pink/nude shade– enough to give me some color, but not stand out too much at the office. I also prefer lipsticks that have moisturizer in them and won’t make my lips feel dried out.

When switching from summer to fall shades, it looks best when you ease into it. There are two different ways that I do this.

  1. I’ll use one of my darker lipsticks and put a lighter, shimmery gloss on top
  2. I use a bit of a darker liner around my lips and then in the middle of them, to add depth and contour

Both of these look cute and natural, while allowing you to incorporate darker shades into your beauty routine. Lipsticks are even better when you can get them for sale, and Ulta has a great promotion right now!

The Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale is going on now through September 23, so it’s the perfect time to stock up on your favorite lip colors or try something new! Here are some of the sale lippies that will be 50% off.
