Planning with Brit + Co

This post is in collaboration with Brit + Co and Her Campus Media, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you ask any of my friends, they would 100% say that I’m a planner. Now, quite literally, my job title is planner (I work in media planning). So it’s only fitting that I’ve been planning and scheduling things throughout my life.

I was always that girl in college with the color-coded, organized planner on me at all times. Now as an employee, I still try to keep an organized calendar. Color coding is still relevant when I have several meetings throughout the day and assignments I need to finish for work. Not to mention, I have to remember dates to pay my rent, cable, etc. The real world is super fun!

I’ve teamed up with Brit + Co, a media company that inspires real women with a creative spirit through content, online classes, and creative products, to share with you some of my best tips for planning and staying organized! They sent me the adorable planner, stickers, and desk supplies pictured above. All of the products you see are also available at Target! I love the bright, fun colors and motivational sayings like “You got this!” throughout the planner. Brit + Co also personalized it with my name on the front… SO cute.

Tips for Planning and Staying Organized:

  1. Record all of your events for the day. Whether you have meetings for work or school, a dinner with friends, or a workout class, definitely write it all down! I like to have a handwritten schedule along with everything saved in my phone as a backup. This is super helpful when trying to make plans because I just have to look and see when I’m free.
  2. Color code different categories. I like to use different colors for different things, even on my phone. So work meetings (or school) have one color, plans with friends have another color, and so do blog events! This is an easy way to see what each day entails.
  3. Add in all important dates as soon as you know them. I used to always record when my papers were due or exams were. Now I record things like rent payment, ha. But I even do this for trips and vacations to know what my overall schedule is. It’s nice to have these dates all in one place to easily access.
  4. Take a lot of notes. Write down when that report is due to your boss or when your homework is due for class. But most importantly, write down WHAT it is that you have to do. Take detailed notes so you can look back on them later. I know I always have so many things going on that it gets hard to remember all of the little details. Looking back at notes is a life-changer, so you don’t mess up or forget something.

More about Brit + Co:

Brit + Co is one of the companies I’ve been following for a while. I love going to their Instagram or website for bright colors and inspiration! They were originally focused on DIY and the “maker movement,” but now they expanded  across a broader set of women’s lifestyle categories including fashion, beauty, parenting, home, food, and news. You should definitely check out their site, where they also offer classes in several different areas. I’m thinking about doing one of their photography classes to brush up on my skills.

Now they are moving into the merchandising space with products like the adorable planner and accessories you saw above. They also have DIY activity kits that are really cute (and sold at Target)!

I hope some of these tips can help you be a more organized person 🙂 If you have any fool-proof tips, I’d love to hear them!

P.S. Isn’t this gold and white necklace adorable?! It’s by Starfish Project, a company that helps women who are escaping trafficking and exploitation. Definitely check out the site and shop for a cause! I’ve linked some of my favs below 🙂

    1. Right?! I’d probably rather be doing papers instead of paying rent lol 🙂 Thanks, love!
